Cultural Studies

   The researchers of this area try to understand the intersections between culture, science, individuals and society. Some works question the limits between high culture and mass or commercial culture, the culture’s production processes, the hybrid cultural objects, configurations of socially marginalized groups, migratory processes, science as culture and health, biological and social timing, science fiction and education and other topics.

   Currently, the cultural studies contribute to the critic of established disciplines, cultural studies in the Graduate Program at EACH/USP is established on a very strong interdisciplinary basis ranging from disciplines as colonialism until others as neuroscience, literature and social media . From a historical view, this Graduate Program launches the doubt over Occident’s knowledge construction and the way it is imposed over alternative forms of culture and knowledge.
