Gerontology

The Master´s Degree Program in Gerontology has three research lines, which share the same concepts: 1) aging is a natural and continuous process that involves biopsychosocial changes over time; 2) aging is a unique, individual and heterogeneous process, which is influenced by the interaction between intrinsic and extrinsic factors; 3) active and successful aging depend not only on actions in health and social areas, but also in education, economy, labor, social welfare and others. In the main, the Program intends to explore the aging process in its complexity, seeking to understand and deal with older adults’ needs, prepare and educate society to face the challenges of an aging population and help to promote successful aging.
